Lovely little campsite. Nice level, well kept field with basic, but very clean facilities. Beautiful and quiet surroundings. Very short walk to local pub and a small village shop. John the campsite owner and his wife, are very cheerful and helpful.

Great campsite, level field with thick, well cut grass, good power supply, nice clean private bathroom with toilet paper, great water temperature.John is a very welcoming host, he waited for us till quite late to arrive. He has an IBAN number, which was great for us to pay directly from the EU bank account. The camsite has an ideal connection to the Harwich ferry port. Beware of the shortest route (picture attached) if you drive a vehicle taller that 2.8 meters – there is a low bridge in Lowfolk (red dot). Take the A120/A12 route instead – takes the same amount of time.

Casual, beautiful environment. Helpful owner. Turned out to be a world champion in the 505 sailing class a while ago.

John was very friendly and had provided a clean comfortable and well maintained site. We were cycling on the NCN1 with a 2P tent, would recommend to anyone.

Perfect, quiet and accessible to A14 and A12 for Felixstowe Sea Front, right right on the doorstep of Constable Country, Colchester for shopping and all that Essex and South Suffolk has to offer. Just south of Ipswich for anyone coming in via Harwich from the continent. Lovely host in a quiet village with a local community owned pub with play park while parents enjoy a good selection of drinks with good food just three minutes walk away. Lovely approachable hosts on-site, with toilet, shower, Elsan and recycling bins with electric hook up and a nice grass plot. Lovely, and a great price.

Perfect stopover if you’re going to/from the ferry at Harwich – just 30 mins away from the port. Feels very quiet and out of the way, both in terms of location and atmosphere. Only one toilet/shower but both times we stayed there weren’t many other campers and it wasn’t a problem, facilities were very clean too.

I booked a sans-electricity tent pitch for three nights at The Briar Campsite. It was easy to find and precisely as advertised. Very much a no-nonsense site, not crowded, clean lavatory and shower facility, plenty of space, quiet, no light pollution at night (the full moon and Ursa Major right overhead were amazing) and very affordable. Proprietor John Davies gave me a pleasant welcome and it turned out that he too is a keen sailor (sailing International One Design). In all a good stay and I would recommend the Briar Campsite to you.

Lovely place, nice and quiet with a real friendly feel. The owner was personable and facilities good for a small site. We used for Alton water which is only 10 min drive away. Great stay will definitely be back!
